Collaborator Needed
Unfortunately James Shelly will be unable to give his presentation at this year’s PodCamp London. James has decided to get married (Congratulations James!) and as such just doesn’t have time to finish his presentation.
With that said, James would like to collaborate and team up with anyone interested in finishing up the research and to present on the topic next year.
If you are interested make sure to contact James directly.
The information about his talk is presented below.
“Super-Size My Ego: Does Social Media Inflate My Sense of Self?”
- by James Shelley, inventingaplanet.com, @jamesshelley
The antagonists of social media often critique online networking as exhibitionism and egotistical. Does this claim hold validity? This session will explore the psychology of social media: how does having an “online version” of yourself affect your sense of self? Do particular “personality types” predispose certain people to “socially market” themselves? Are there any emotional or psychological “predeterminates” behind people’s use of social media? Why do some people rush to invent an online “presence” while other people do not even bother having a Facebook account? Regardless of how you use social media, this session will wrestle with questions directly related to the “raw humanity” of the digital age. If social media is a tool for business or recreation for you, this collaborative session will surely teach you something about yourself, your Friends, and your Followers.
